March 2020 came as a total horrible surprise to everyone across the globe. Covid was announced as a pandemic and changed the course of our lives one way or another. This 2021, we will be celebrating our second Christmas in the middle of this pandemic. Although Christmas 2021 is way better than that of last year we still would like to remain cheerful and positive (not of the virus of course).
Below is a list of no-frills ways to enjoy Christmas 2021 even in the middle of a Pandemic.
Stay in touch with family and friends through technology
Communication is an essential way to maintain a good relationship with your family and friends especially in the middle of a pandemic where even up to this day, travel and movement is still restricted and kept under control.
Thanks to technology, we can now instantly and easily communicate with anyone across the globe with just a touch of a button. Take advantage of technology and use it to text, chat, and video call with loved ones. It is hard to imagine how to survive a worldwide lockdown without Zoom, Facetime, FB Messenger, Viber, and the likes. On a lighter note, it is reported that elderly adults have coped well with using technology because of the pandemic and are now enjoying modern ways of communication.
Christmas will remain warm if we keep in touch with family and friends.
Help out as much as you can
Helping is one way to maintain our humanity despite any situation that we face. There are many ways that we can extend help. It does not mean to spend thousands of dollars or start a foundation, or a donation drive to be able to help out during Christmas. Start in your community. Start small. Start with the thought and the intention of helping and from there ideas will blossom. You may prepare some home-cooked meals and drop them off in elderly communities, hospital wards with people that might need a warm meal for Christmas. There are tons of people who need help now more than ever and a little gesture like preparing a nice home-cooked meal will go a long way.
Take it easy
This tip is for you. For your mental health. TAKE IT EASY. Yes the world is in chaos, yes the future is uncertain, yes the unknown is scary, but that does not mean that you have to keep up with the spinning of the world. Stop worrying. Stop stressing about things that we do not have control over. This quote by Germany Kent will help you during this troubling time.
“Think about every good thing in your life right now. Free yourself from worrying. Let go of the anxiety, breathe. Stay positive, all is well.”
Use downtime to plan for the next few years
This Christmas has brought about tons of silent hours and downtime. It is still not too late to make use of the peace and quiet to plan for the next few years. There have been a lot of changes in our lifestyle, health, relationships, job, etc because of the pandemic and this season is the best time to clear your head to think of the future. It does not have to be a detailed step-by-step plan for the next few years, but it will be good to give your disposition about tomorrow a thought.
Shop online
They say that shopping is therapeutic and we couldn’t agree more! One of the ways many survived the lockdowns of this pandemic was through shopping. Online shopping. Online shopping has grown exponentially in the last 2 years. Online shopping is relatively safer than going outside and risking exposure to the virus. Online shopping also is safer now in terms of transactions because the cyber security of merchants, shopping sites, and online banking have upgraded tremendously in recent years.
